Mr Carroll began learning Taekwondo and Judo from the late Mr Kyu Suk Chang in Melbourne in 1974. He achieved success in state and national tournaments in the late 70’s and began refereeing tournaments in 1980. He moved to rural Victoria and conducted his own successful club in Warrnambool for 13 years before moving to Brisbane and joining Mr Green in 1998 as an instructor at the Carindale branch. He currently holds the rank of  6th Dan Black Belt.

Mr Carroll has been a Level 1 Coach and a First Class referee since 1986. He has officiated at very many state and National tournaments since then and has served on the Queensland Referee board. He is a qualified and experienced secondary teacher and holds a Senior First Aid Certificate.  He has also presented many introductory Taekwondo and self-defence classes to schools and community groups in Victoria and Queensland. He has been a very successful competitor in the Masters division, including the Pan Pacific Masters Games in both sparring and poomse events.
