Darryl Green – Brisbane Head Instructor

Darryl Green is the head instructor for the Brisbane based branches on Edge Taekwondo. He is a 5th dan black belt. He began training in 1989 and has competed successfully at state and national level in the heavyweight division. Darryl opened his first taekwondo branch in 1994, teaching a small class of students twice a week.  In 1996 he moved to the newly opened Carindale PCYC where the club flourished to a stage where presently classes are taught four days a week with as many as four classes a day.  In 2010 Darryl opened a second branch at the Sandgate PCYC. This branch has also flourished and classes have grown steadily where there is now three to four classes a day.

Darryl has also in this time been an active member of the taekwondo community and was the Queensland State Delegate for Taekwondo Australia for many years.  In 2009 he successfully completed the World Taekwondo Federation International Referee Course and has refereed at events such as the Oceania Championship, Australian Open, USA Open, Korean Open, many National, State and Club events.  In 2016 Darryl became the Chairman of the National Referee Kyrougi (Sparring) Committee, a position which he still holds today and he is heavily involved in the education of referees across Australia.

Darryl is a blue card holder and first aid qualified.

In 2018, Darryl was elected president of board of Australian Taekwondo Queensland – the state governing body for Queensland.
