Darryl Green is the head instructor for the Brisbane based branches on Edge Taekwondo. He is a 5th dan black belt. He began training in 1989 and has competed successfully at state and national level in the heavyweight division. Darryl opened his first taekwondo branch in 1994, teaching a small class of students twice a week. In 1996 he moved to the newly opened Carindale PCYC where the club flourished to a stage where presently classes are taught four days a week with as many as four classes a day. In 2010 Darryl opened a second branch at the Sandgate PCYC. This branch has also flourished and classes have grown steadily where there is now three to four classes a day.

Alan Harlick – Gold Coast Head Instructor
Mr Alan Harlick obtained his 5th Dan black belt in 2016. He began training with Mr Robert Muir (Muir’s Taekwondo) in 1990 at the Helensvale Gold Coast branch.
David Carroll – Brisbane
Mr Carroll began learning Taekwondo and Judo from the late Mr Kyu Suk Chang in Melbourne in 1974. He achieved success in state and national tournaments in the late 70’s and began refereeing tournaments in 1980. He moved to rural Victoria and conducted his own successful club in Warrnambool for 13 years before moving to Brisbane and joining Mr Green in 1998 as an instructor at the Carindale branch. He currently holds the rank of 6th Dan Black Belt.
Neil Cowperthwaite – Brisbane
Neil is a Scotsman who arrived in Australia some 20 years ago and settled in Canberra. Neil has been training since the age of 6 and over his careers he has won numerous National titles both in the UK as well as Australia. He has also competed at various International tournaments during this time. Neil competed at the 2010 Australian National championships after a 6 year absence and came back with a Bronze medal. In 2017 Neil was chosen as the Australian coach of the Cadet National Team that traveled to Croatia and Greece.
Ernie Civitarese – Brisbane
Ernesto (Ernie) Civitarese began training in 2006 under Mr Darryl Green and Mr Eddie Carroll after his son Andrew had been training for a year at the Carindale branch.
Ernie obtained his 1st Dan Black Belt in 2009 and his 2nd Dan in 2011 under Mr Robert Muir. In 2014 Ernie obtained his 3rd dan under the new club name ‘Edge Taekwondo’ and attained 4th Dan in 2018.
He is a qualified referee under the Oceania Taekwondo Union and regularly referees, club, state and National events.
Sharlene Askew – Gold Coast
Sharlene has a long history in the fitness industry. She has been a gym and fitness instructor and also competed in aerobic divisions. It was here that she won a couple of National Titles. Sharlene’s daughter become involved in the sport of taekwondo as a young girl and because of this Sharlene decided to give the sport a try. In 2008 Sharlene commenced training under Robert Muir. Sharlene obtained her 1st dan black belt in 2012 followed by her 2nd Dan in 2014.
Carol Hunter-Lange – Baskerville
Miss Carol Hunter-Lange holds a 3rd dan Black Belt in Taekwondo and 1st Dan in Hapkido. She is a National Masters Gold Medalist in Poomsae, Sparring and Board Breaking.
She is an experienced coach at at State, National and International Levels.
Miss Carol has a Law Degree having worked with families and children for the past 25 years. She also has Diplomas in Sports Psychology and Nutrition.
Miss Carol is passionate about making Taekwondo available to ALL ages.
Drew Smith – Brisbane

Former Instructor – Edward Carroll – Brisbane

Edward spent 2011 living in Seoul, South Korea and training full-time with Master Ko Manjae and the Seongdong-gu School team.
Edward has been a highly successful competitor at State and National events in the middle and heavyweight sparring category. He beat the reigning national champion to win the 2012 Gold Coast Open. Edward specializes in sports and competition training and still competes at a national and international level.
Edward is currently living in the UK.

Jae Bong Kim’s achievements include:-
- Gold medal at 19th World Military Championship in Canada 2010 ( a representative for Sang Mu Military Service)
- Gold medal at the 4th Korea Open International Taekwondo Championships Nov. 2008 (a representative for Seong Nam City Hall)
- Gold medal at the 2nd Korea Open International Taekwondo Championships 2005 (a representative for Samsung S1)
- Gold medal at the 1st Korea Open International Taekwondo Championships 2006 (a representative for national team)
- Gold medal at the 3rd Federacion Madrilen De Taekwondo YD.A 2007 (a representative for national team)
Jae Bong is currently the Junior Team Coach for the Indonesian Team.
